Great style isn’t complicated

8 Min Read

It didn’t take long for us to discover that one of our most popular items was the merino sweater, so we decided to make it in a range of styles and colors, from the Merino John Zip, or the Merino O-neck and Polo Knit, in knits from wide rib to classic cable.

The History

But we didn’t invent the merino sweater. It all started in the 12th century, when traders brought merino sheep to Spain. Over the centuries merino sheep were prized for their fine wool and exported throughout Europe and America – and eventually, merino was used for everything from haute couture dresses to the iconic Morris Merino Cable.

How to Wear Merino

Zipper, round neck, cardigan, roller neck, buttons: Morris knits in high quality Biella Südwolle merino wool come in many shapes and forms, so the possibilities for mixing and matching, dressing up or down, are endless.

The Merino John Zip, a favorite in the merino wool collection that we recommend wearing with a collared shirt; it just looks better that way. How far up or down should you pull the zipper? Whatever makes you feel comfortable, we say.

The roller neck works just as well with your favorite worn-in jeans as it does with a sharp double-breasted suit. Same goes for the zipper cardigan – for casual days, just throw it on over a t-shirt.

The classic and soft round neck, we encourage wearing just like it is, with nothing but bare skin underneath, although a well fitted t-shirt works, too – as does a jacket or suit, of course.

We constantly develop our merino collections, season after season. One season it is by creating a new style, another it is by adding details, or a new popping colour.

The Morris Merino Polo Knit bridges the gap between a shirt and a jersey. An elegantly sporty knit to wear with a t-shirt and shirt underneath – or as it is.

We’ve made all our merino sweaters in medium weight, so you can wear them just as they are, or under your suit or jacket. A high quality, well-fitting merino sweater is one of those garments that almost all men, of any style and age, look good and feel comfortable in. Begin your journey in comfy elegance.

Merino Care

Merino wool is self-cleaning, so you don’t need to wash your wool pieces frequently. Just refresh them when necessary. Here are some tips for when you do need to wash or repair your wool:

• Hand wash your merino wool, or set your washing machine to the wool setting if you’re sure it’s going to be gentle.

• Don’t hang your knit garments to dry – lay wet wool flat to dry to help it maintain its shape.

• Learn how to make simple repairs. All Morris merino wool garments come with extra thread for minor repairs.
